Let's Talk About Race with DariAnne Smith
Show Notes

Today my guest is DariAnne Smith, who is a preschool educator, activist and a close friend of mine.

In this episode, DariAnne and I have a real, open, honest, and vulnerable conversation about race.  I only began to awaken to my own white privilege a few years ago.  During that time, DariAnne was so gracious to hold space for me and share her own stories, which really helped me to acknowledge my own privilege and the ways that I have been (unintentionally) racist.

Insights:

  • DariAnne share about her first memory of racism she experienced in first grade
  • The importance of listening to and believing black individual's stories and lived experiences
  • How ingrained white privilege is in our society and how we got to where we are now as a country.
  • How to be actively anti-racist and action steps we all can take to create equality for all people
  • Your role in dismantling systemic racism
